On October 29, 2011, Baylor Health Care System hosted a fun run/walk 5K in the Frazier neighborhood South Dallas to support the Diabetes Health and Wellness Institute. In all, 750 North Texas residents came together to raise money and awareness for DHWI, and the fun run raised $139339 to support DHWI and the community. Professional basketball player and former Dallas Maverick Corey Brewer attended the event for his parents who both suffer from diabetes.
