FONDLING THE FEAR
LAUGHING THRU THE WRITING LIFE WITH RICHARD STOCKTON
Claiming to be a feral child raised by Republicans, Richard Stockton learned to focus on the power of the positive. By digging deep to find the good in any situation, Stockton thrived as a musician, radio talk show host and comedian. He exploits the NLP (neuro-linguisitic programming) technique of ‘framing’ to exploit whatever challenges life throws at him.
His book, Fondling the Fear, defines an empowerment journey using humor and true stories to teach the basic three steps. He notes, “If you’re not living your dream, you’re living someone else’s.” He suggests that fear owns us when we keep it in the shadows, and recommends experiencing fear of something really frightening, like his first few days in Los Angeles.
A pioneer in hot talk, Richard's controversial morning drive show on WKDA, Nashville, was the number one radio talk show in the mid-South. In his years as a standup comedian, he has appeared on dozens of national TV shows including BET’s "Live From LA" , NBC’s "Friday Night" and "Love Da Money," a feature film. He has headlined A List comedy clubs from coast to coast – Improvisation, Punchline, Comedy Underground, Comedy Works and more - growing an audience of devotees to his unique take on the human potential movement.
