Wendy Lichtman

Wendy Lichtman. Freelance writing for magazines

WRITING IN THE RIGHT VOICE

Magazine writer Wendy Lichtman opts to craft articles in the first-person style, a conversational and intimate essay style.  Published in national magazines such as the New York Times, Health, Good Housekeeping, Christian Science Monitor, and our own San Francisco Chronicle, Lichtman credits her success to her expertise in this writing form.

Like many of us, she has many "tricks" up her sleeve, and has had success in the fiction world.  Lichtman wrote four books for young adults, as well as several short stories published in anthologies.  A children's book, Blew and the Death of the Mag, has just been republished. She enjoys sharing her knowledge through teaching and workshops

Author's (auto)bio . . .
As a freelance writer, I publish first-person essays in many national magazines and newspapers. I've recently had pieces in the New York Times, the Washington Post Magazine, Health, Good Housekeeping, Working Mother, the Christian Science Monitor, and have been a frequent contributor to the San Francisco Chronicle. In addition, my stories have appeared in two
anthologies and I've written four books of fiction for young adults. My first book for children, Blew and The Death of the Mag, has just been republished (after 28 years!) by Gestalt Journal Press.

I also teach writing the first person essay to professional writers, and lead workshops for the Kellogg Foundation.
